Trends in Trousers 2010
A new fashion trend in women’s trousers is trousers on the ankle. This is a recent development, which has grown in popularity with the rise of skinny jeans and in fact, the best way of achieving this look is with skinny designer jeans. This is because the jeans are tight to the legs and do not flap around the ankle. It might seem that the same look could be achieved with fitted trousers. However, there is a danger that you could get it wrong and simply look like a child with trousers that are too short.
There is a range of brands on offer and roll up skinny jeans are good because they add extra detail to an otherwise plain pair of jeans. Choose a pair with studding detailing and you can even dress them up for an evening out. There is also a trend for leggings that look like skinny jeans and stop at the ankle. These look good with pumps and oversized jumpers or women’s t-shirts.
Harem trousers are also a new trend. They won’t suit everyone, but if you want to try a pair, choose one with a good fabric. Harem trousers have a lot of material, so make sure that the fabric is comfortable and try to ensure that your waist doesn’t disappear; adding a belt will help to emphasise your waist. If you are a bit nervous about wearing them then think about a pair for evening or holiday and choose solid colours until you are confident enough to pick a print.
High-waisted jeans and trousers are back, with many designers opting to make jeans that fall either above the navel, on it or just below. Leggings will also become more glamorous with sequins and sparkly materials.
